BE Quickie Review- Pretty Amazing Lip Color in Rouge

This is my first Quickie Review!! I chose the new lipcolor line from BE because I'm obsessed with lip colors. Working on the plane my lips get so dried out and I am constantly trying new things. I want to love love love Buxom, but they BURN BURN BURN my lips! Ive tried wearing colors underneath but it doesn't help. I feel like my lips are on fire. I've tried all of the various BE lip choices and haven't found one that lasts. I tried LipSense (Christina Aguilera wears it) but my lips got all sticky and gooey and you have to keep reapplying the top coat. Tried Burts Bees, but it doesn't last either.

The description for Pretty Amazing Rouge (which comes in the first installment of the BE kit The Perfect Gift) is:

Our cool lipcolor looks like a high shine, hydrating gloss, yet defines and enhances lips like a lipcolor.  Intense, rich pigments in this brick rose shade are painted on instantly, wrapping lips in a lacquered velveteen finish so they appear smoother and naturally voluminous.  The special cushioning wand effortlessly lines, defines and enhances lips, holding and depositing the perfect amount of color in just one swipe.

First off- let me just say that this is pretty amazing, but also, pretty dark! I'm used to wearing lighter shades of pink and sometimes nude or even clear gloss. Rouge was like BAM! IN YOUR FACE!!! It took me a minute to get used to it. The wand was kind of weird at first- and a little bit went a long way!!!

I like the feel of it- it's not goopy or sticky like glosses can be. I won't worry about my hair getting stuck in it, lol. I did use a bit too much, I'm guessing, because for the first hour I had to keep removing it from my teeth (even though I did the Cindy Crawford trick of putting my fingers in my mouth and pulling them out with the excess lipcolor on them).

I did the Jeanette test- eating lunch and letting a few hours go by without reapplying to see if the color would stay- and it did!!!! Usually if I drink coffee or eat, my lip color goes away. Not Pretty Amazing! The pictures below were taken 4 hours after I applied it, and after I'd eaten lunch.

Looks just as great as when I first applied it. No retouch! Yes!!! Can't wait to take it with me to work- I wont have to apply my landing lips because they'll still be on! THANK YOU LESLIE AND BE!!!! I will be purchasing ALL of the colors in the Pretty Amazing line if you decide to make more. AND PLEASE MAKE MORE!!!

The Adventures of Worldly Wendy and Jetsetting Jeanette at the BE Master Class

...we arrived at the Ritz and all of its glamor and headed to the second floor where the champagne reception was taking place. Wendy had failed to mention that she knew everyone from BE Addicts and Mineral Madness (the best online forums ever!) and we mingled a bit (and had a few glasses of champagne) before the main room opened up.

WOWZA!!!!! I was speechless!!!!! Wendy headed to the front of the room and got us the best seats i the place!!!!!!! (THANKS WENDYCAKES!!!)  I loved that it was small and intimate. I had been expecting 200- 500 people and there was probably closer to between 50 and 75. We sat down and first things first- goody bags!!!!!!!

Super cute pink totes filled with heaven!!!!   Maximum Coverage Face Brush (Wendy shoed this to me on the train in and told her I was going to buy one- hello-in the goody bag!!!), Glazed Donut lipgloss (my FAV!! and I was wearing that night over Shell lipliner), Plum Brulee lipstick, the new Flawless definition Volumizing Mascara, RareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser, RareMinerals Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer, Face Fashion the Look of Now CLASSIC GLAM kit- EVERYTHING WAS FULL SIZED!!!, and the Bare Beauty Look Book (you can only get it at the Master Class).

We went through it and went over to Bravon, who Miss Wendycakes forgot to mention KNOWS HER!!!!!OMG!!! SO Wendy introduced us and we took pictures. I told him how handsome he is- such a cutie!!!! We talked for a few minutes and then..

Leslie, the Queen Mother walked in. Wendy and I headed over to her. This is when I find out that LESLIE KNOWS WENDY too!!!! I still can't believe she didn't tell me this!!!! So Wendy introduced me to Leslie (who is freaking TEENY TINY!!!!!!!!) and I got a bit emotional. This is really weird for me. I'm a flight attendant, so I meet famous people all of the time, and its cool, but not life changing.
Wendy and Leslie

Meeting Leslie- I was just so overwhelmed. Here is someone I  have watched a million ties on television. My self esteem and so much of what I do changed when I started using BE. It was Leslie who got me to make the change. It was just- wow. I think I thanked her a million times and got all teary eyed, and she got teary eyed and that's how she began the night.

Vicki, Director of National Events, gave a quick speech and introduced everyone and Leslie got up to speak.

She talked for a while about BE- how she got started (she is so down to earth and so genuine, and wow- I feel so lucky to have meet her!!!) She was funny and smart and just amazing.

Then Jessica Foust (love her on QVC!!!!) went over some of the new products and in between they raffled off a few. Charmed, a collection that is going to be exclusive to Ulta and won't be out until November was my favorite. It comes in a pink box, has a gold heart charm and all of the pieces have a pink heart on them. it comes with a full sized 7 Layer Cake lipgloss, full sized Volumizing mascara, .75g Original Mineral Veil, .57g Flawless Radiance, .57 Timeless blush, full sized Charmed eyecolor, full sized Memoir eyecolor, Big & Bright eyeliner in Plum and a Tapered Blush Brush and an Eye Defining Brush with PINK handles.

As soon as I saw it I told Wendy I was going to buy it that night. I love love love pink, and I have been to 3 boutiques and a Macys looking for 7 Layer Cake- all sold out. I also just told Bumble Bea that I want a charm bracelet for Christmas.

Guess who won the raffle!!! YES!!! ME!!!!! I think Leslie was glad that I won it since we came all the way from Cali. (She mentioned it a few times in her talk, btw, and everyone there knew Wendy and I as the girls from L.A.)

After Leslie spoke Bravon made up a model (Julie) using the Beyond Gorgeous kit and Moonlight High Eye Shine Color. Wowza he is TALENTED!!!!!! I had asked Wendy earlier about a lip primer because I love all things BE but their lip products always come off. Bravon (the genius he is) talked about using the eye primer on lips. I'm telling you- if I mentioned it to Wendycakes, I got it!!!!!

After Bravon did his presentation Jessica Foust introduced some of the new and upcoming products. (OMG, Jessica is soooooooooooo cute! Hope you've seen her on QVC- love her!).  She showed Kaleidoscope Collection (Wendycakes wants it), Body Lingerie Luminous Body Shimmer, Beyond Gorgeous (I ordered it that night), Shine and Shimmer (Sephora Exclusive which I will be buying!!!!!) and All Wrapped Up (I will also be purchasing), Delish Lipgloss Palette (super cute and perfect for traveling!),  Brilliant Gold Beauty Duo, and one other kit, Buxom Samantha's Smoky Eye.

OMG and hey showed the packaging for the November QVC TSV!!!! Holy nuts it's an adorable hat box!!!!! They are all going to be garden themed, designed around a different flower each time. Each of the pieces has black flowers embossed on them- SUPER CUTE! ANd less than $40!!!! A MUST HAVE!!!!! The first blush is called is Avant Garden- I mean, can it get any cuter???

It was getting late and Leslie and the others had to be in NYC the next day so we adjourned, took a few minutes to look at the new items on display and headed out into the hall. Leslie was there signing autographed photos and we were able to give her the gifts.

Wendy and I both ordered Beyond Gorgeous and we each got the Foiled Eye Kit gift for purchasing $50 or more and a free eyecolor sample (Ill post what it is when we get it)

Afterwards we talked to Jessica and Bravon who also signed autographs. I was amazed that bravon knew exactly who Wendycakes was- even the airline we work for!!!! And Jessica (who lives in Philly) gave us a list of places to go. Bravon also invited us to NYC the next day (we debated going but realized we couldn't get a flight home from NYC so passed on it). We stayed talking after everyone left until Bravon and Jessica had to leave. NICEST PEOPLE EVER!!

We headed down to the bar/lounge, high on the events of the night. We got a drink and were talking when the BE employees came down. I went over and asked about the best way to get to NYC and Sue Fike, the District Manager of NY/PA came ver and told us she was going to let the manager in NYC know that we may be coming and to treat us well. So awesome!!!! I can't believe how welcoming everyone was and so genuine and happy. It was such a great experience!!!!!

Wendy and I got back to the hotel around 1am and stayed up talking til 2am. (We had to be up at 4- UGH!!!!) We caught a flight home and are now planning a visit to the BE Outlet sometime this week!!!!

Swirling, Tapping and Buffing My Way To The East Coast

A few weeks ago, Wendy, my fellow flight attendant and BE addict called and told me she had an extra ticket for the Bare Ecentuals Master Class in Philadelphia and asked if I wanted to go. Um- HELLS TO THE YEAH!!!!

We booked a hotel a few blocks from the Ritz Carlton, where it was taking place, and hoped on a flight to Philly from LA. I was sooooooooo excited the night before we left that I stayed up all night. Wendy had a trip that landed at midnight the night before we left and we were picking her up at 4:45 so she didn't sleep either.

Most of the flight to Philly we talked about all things BE and from the train from the airport to our hotel we talked about BE. A few times we stopped and realized that if anyone was listening to us they must be thinking we were nuts. we compared brushes, eye colors, everything BE. What kits we did and didnt have, our wishlists, eye shadow combos- anything and everything BE.

Once we got to the hotel, we unpacked, changed clothes and continued discussing our BE addiction over dinner at the best Mexican restaurant ever, El Vez. (If you ever go there, order a Sexican- delish!!!) After stuffing ourselves like fools we indulged in two other addictions we share in common- shoes and purses.

And yes, then we headed over to the Ritz to stalk- I mean SCOPE the place out for the next night. Lol.

We slept late the next day and headed out to grab lunch at the Reading Terminal Market (best vgean Philly Cheesesteaks EVER!!!). As we were walking over there I turned to my left and saw pink. I grabbed Wedny at the same time she grabbed me. The BARE ESCENTUALS TOUR VAN!!! OMG Leslie was HERE!!!!! We ran over and took pictures like the crazy addicts we are! We posed like Leslie, took pictures from every angle.

Then a guy came out and introduced himself as Ed, Leslie's van driver. he was SOOOOOOOOOOO nice! (and I'm sure he thought we were nutty nutty nutty!) He asked if we were going ot the class- OF COURSE! and then asked if we would like a Buxom - DOUBlE OF COURSE!! and handed us a full sized Gabby. OMG!!!! I asked him how it was to work with Leslie and he told me that he's been a driver for a long time and Leslie is the nicest person he's ever worked for. <3

We then headed to the Market. After lunch Wendy said to me. "I have an idea. Do you want to get Leslie a gift?" "YES!" (We later then realized that if she had asked anyone else they would have thought she was weird, lol) So we went to an Amish stand and bought Leslie Amish Friendship Tea and Amish Friendship Soup.

....back  at the hotel we got ready. We looked fabulous! Wendy was in all black (super cute shoes!) and I was in a white dress with a black sweater. Hello- only the two of use would be coordinated without planning to be! (BTW- I wore Cupcake all over, Big Smile foiled on the lid and Wildflower lined and in the crease).

We headed over to the Ritz as excited as two girls can be!!!!!

Second Service

For the past year and a half I have been a jewelry lady with Premier Designs.  It's an amazing company that was started by Andy and Joan Horner in Texas. We're a home based business with the best hostess plan in any home show based business.

I love the company, have been to the Regional Rally in Southern California, and traveled to Dallas for the 2009 National Rally, where I walked the stage and received an award for doing 12 home shows in my first 90 days.  I also did so many shows in the month of May that I was able to meet Joan Horner and get my photo taken with her!!!!

Edie (my Premier mom), me, Marti (my Premier cousin), and Michelle (my Premier sister)

I'm not a salesperson by any means and tried once to have a home based business (the one where you can workup to getting a pink car) and wasted over $3,000 on product I couldn't get rid of.

A friend of Bumble Bea's was having a jewelry show so we went. I loved the jewelry and Bea tried to convince me to become a jeweler. I thought she was crazy.

A few months went by and Edie, who was the jeweler at the show contacted me and told me she was having an info session in Northern California. I happpend to be going up there to visit my family at the same time so I agreed to go just to check it out.

I had a great time. I learned all about Premier, how the company worked, their philosophy, what I could get from it other than a second income. Jewelers make 50% of everything, got paid the night they did a show, had trainings, rallys, recognition, no quotas, etc. It sounded too good to be true!

I talked it over with Bea and thought about it for a week. A year and half later- here I am!!!

Cabo- one of my favorite pieces by Premier

I am currently in a book-a-thon contest for the months of Oct, Nov and Dec. This is one of the best times of the year to host a show. You can earn 30 to 50% of what is sold in FREE jewelry of your choice! You can use it as gifts for yourself or as holiday gifts. he perfect girls night out- your guests get to try on jewelry, learn fashion techniques and get their holiday shopping done without waiting in long lines at the Mall. And since I'm a flight attendant, I can fly all over the country and do a show for anyone!!! we also do catalog shows for those who just want to get orders by showing the catalog and not have an actual show in their home.

If you're interested at all- let me know!!!!!

BE Color of the Week- Heart

One of my newest B.E. purchases was Heart.

Weight Loss Journey Update- I'm down 4 pounds!!!!

My BE Addiction

Some people are chocoholics. Some are alcoholics. Some are workacholics. I am a Bare Excentuals-aholic.
It all started with an infomercial. I kept seeing them. Over and over. I was fascinated by Leslie Blodgett and the Bare Minerals line. I couldn't get over how she could take a normal, every day girl with not so perfect sin and make her looks so BEautiful. And a makeup line so pure you could sleep in it? Never!

I continued to watch the informericals, but was too scared to actually try Bare Escentuals. I had been using liquid foundation for years and couldn't imagine NOT wearing it.

I finally broke down one night while watching Leslie on QVC. I ordered the Friendship Cruise kit one August, about 5 years ago. I was so excited when I received it. I ordered a set of 15 tester eyeshadow colors from ebay. Both packages sat unused for over 6 months. I just couldn't make the change.

After looking at the packages for months, I decided to go for it. I tried on the foundation, warmth, mineral veil, and eyeshadow colors. I couldn't get over how amazing I looked and felt. It was freeing to not have that nasty, heavy, gunky liquid foundation. but the coverage was even better than I imagined! And from there, it just spiraled.

I went to my first BE boutique in Chicago when I was in training with my airline. I loved it!!!!! and the night I graduated from training, someone broke into my girlfriends car while we were picking up dinner and ALL of my BE was stolen. I drove around for weeks afterwards hoping that the thieves had tossed it on the street. Everything I had for those 7 weeks at training was stolen- but all I cared about was my BE collection and the memory card on my camera. I never did get it back, but slowly built my collection back up.

I joined the eyeshadow club- every 3 months I receive a set of three eyeshadows for about $25.

In the past 2 weeks I have had 2 makeunders, gone to the boutique in the Mall of America (I bought 2000, Nude Beach and Ecstasy), went to Preview Night (I bought Moonshine, Glisten and Enlightened and the new Gld Mineral Veil), bought the 30 day skin care set and Be Happy set from QVC, drove two hours to visit the the Quickie Van Tour where I was interviewed!!!(I bought Shantung, Cupcake and Bahamas), received Azure, and Heart for trades, and bought the Blendable Watercolors, See Yourself and Champagne Diamonds sets (3 shadows in each set), Au Natural and Peacock on ebay, and the eyebrow kit and Beautiful Lisa from Macys.

One of my fellow flight attendants and BE addicts called me today and let me know that she bought tickets to the Master Class at the Ritz in Philadelphia (for $125 you get dinner, champagne and $200 worth of makeup) so we're planning a field trip!!!

Now that you know how it all began, and how heavy I am into my addiction, I'll be posting tips and pictures and combos. I plan on choosing a color each week and listing a few eye combos that I've heard about or played around with.
(Tam, my makeunder artist at the Quickie Van!)

Weight Journey Update
Tuesday- 21 points and 4889 steps (walked through mall and to the store)
Wednesday- 19 points and 6704 steps (worked out in hotel room)
Thursday- 23 points and 4870 steps
Friday- 19 points and 6704 steps (worked out in hotel gym)

I'm HUNGRY!!!!

Like most women, the struggle with my weight goes back as far as I can remember. I grew up watching my mom go on and off Weight Watchers. I remember going with her to weigh ins and watching her track what she ate. It was kind of like a game to me- crossing off how many servings of vegetables, bread, etc. she’d eaten for the day.

My parents divorced when I was in junior high but before then we were a food family. We always had a salad before the main entree, sides, and of course dessert. We went out for pizza every other Friday night.
One night a month my sister and I would each order a medium pizza- and eat both. In junior high a classmate of mine would sing the batman theme song, but substitute “fat girl” for batman. more than once I had people ask me if I was pregnant.

I started really gaining weight to hide myself because of what was going on at home. Putting a barrier between the world and I.

I left home as soon as I graduated and when I got to college instead of gaining the freshman 15, I lost the 15 and gained an eating disorder. Every day I ate the same thing- 6 mini corn tortillas and 3 slices of processed cheese. If I felt like splurging I’d add an onion. On the weekends I’d go “crazy” and get a Subway sandwich and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.

My sophomore year I started dating a guy who was tall and big. And I tried to keep up with his eating habits. I gained a lot of weight - very quickly. It was ugly. I was again trying to hide what was going on inside of me. Trying to figure out how to come out- literally.
After college I tried every diet- Atkins, South Beach, all rice, all canned foods,  - nothing worked.
At 202 pounds I finally decided to go to Weight Watchers. I joined online and slowly started losing the weight. It took years, but I finally got down to 130. Again- an extreme. I still saw myself as weighing over 200 pounds, so I kept trying to lose more weight. My girlfriend started calling me “skeletor” and my family and friends commented on how unhealthy I looked. I still felt huge.
Since then I’ve gained back 16 pounds. I got tired of counting points, working out every day, and just obsessing. I’m under my Weight Watchers goal and a Lifetime Member, but I still feel fat and want to get back to that weight. I’ll settle for 135 at this point.

This is where my blog steps in. My plan is at the end of each blog entry to post what I’ve eaten to make sure I stay on track. (I’d like to lose 10 pounds by Oct.31) My goal is to walk 6,000 to 10,000 steps a day, work out for at least a half an hour every day, and stay under 22 points a day.
